How to recover
from every treatment.
Aftercare is half of a beautiful result. The actual injection or laser pass is fast; the days that follow are where the outcome takes shape. Here's how we approach it.
Detailed instructions,
a real human to call.
Every treatment at Reviv comes with written pre- and post-care instructions, sent to you by email and reviewed in person. We don't hand you a generic sheet — the instructions are tailored to the specific treatment and your specific case.
We'd rather you call with a small question than wait worrying. Most "is this normal?" concerns have a 30-second answer. The team responds to texts and calls during business hours, same-day; for after-hours urgent concerns, we have a clear protocol on what to do.
We follow up after treatment — at the appropriate interval for what you had done. For Botox, that's a complimentary 2-week touch-up. For laser series, it's the next session check-in. For Kybella and longer-recovery treatments, we check in mid-recovery to make sure things are tracking.
And if something doesn't feel right, we'll see you in the office to look — no charge for follow-up appointments tied to recent treatment.

Botox & Neurotoxins
No downtime; small things matter most. Stay upright 4 hours, skip facial massage and saunas for 24 hours. Detailed pre/post on the treatment page.
Dermal Fillers
Mild bruising and swelling are normal. Skip alcohol and ibuprofen 24 hours before. Avoid heat and pressure on the treated area for 48 hours.
Lip Fillers
Plan for swelling that peaks at 48 hours, then resolves over 5-7 days. Skip salty food, alcohol, and heat. Final shape settles by day 14.
PRP Therapy
No active skincare for 5-7 days. Mineral SPF only. Skin will look slightly pink for 24-48 hours; the result emerges over 4-6 weeks.
Halo + MOXI Resurfacing
Real downtime — pinkness and texture for 4-7 days. Strict sun protection for 4 weeks; gentle cleanser only; no actives or exfoliation.
BBL Photofacial
Brown spots will darken before they flake — that's normal. Mineral SPF, no scrubbing. Strict sun avoidance for 2-4 weeks post-treatment.
Kybella
Significant swelling for 7-14 days — plan accordingly. Cold compresses, supportive sleep position, no aggressive massage. Numbness can persist 2-4 weeks.
NuEra Tight RF
No downtime. Hydrate well, gentle skincare, mineral SPF. Effect builds over weeks as collagen remodels — series typical for full result.
Sclerotherapy
Compression stockings 1-2 weeks. Daily walking encouraged; no hot baths or saunas. Treated veins fade over 6-12 weeks; second session sometimes needed.
Six things that apply
across every recovery.
Hydrate, before and after
Water is the simplest and most universal recovery aid. Skin healing, lymphatic drainage, and tissue repair all run faster when you're well-hydrated. Aim for plenty of water on treatment day and the days that follow.
Sun protection isn't optional
For laser, BBL, RF, and any procedure that disrupts the skin barrier, UV during the healing window can permanently alter pigmentation. Mineral SPF 30+ when going outside, broad-brimmed hat when possible, no tanning beds for at least 4 weeks post-treatment.
Sleep matters more than people think
7-8 hours during the first recovery week is meaningful. Sleep is when collagen synthesis and inflammation resolution happen — short-changing it slows healing visibly.
Skip alcohol and blood thinners around treatments
Alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E all increase bruising risk. Most treatments call for stopping these 24-48 hours before. Never stop a prescribed medication without your doctor's OK — ask us about substitutions.
Gentle skincare during recovery
Pause retinoids, acids, vitamin C, and exfoliating actives for several days post-treatment. Use a fragrance-free cleanser, ceramide-rich moisturizer, and mineral sunscreen. We'll tell you when to resume your usual lineup.
Movement, in moderation
Most treatments call for skipping hard exercise the day of and 24 hours after. Walking and gentle activity are usually fine and even helpful. Sclerotherapy specifically benefits from daily walking. We'll specify per treatment.
Anything that
doesn't feel right.
Some symptoms after treatment are normal — bruising, mild swelling, pinkness, the sensation of having had something done. Others warrant a call. The general rule: if you're uncertain, call. We answer.
- Worsening pain — pain that gets worse rather than better over the first 24-48 hours.
- Increasing swelling past day 3 — most swelling peaks at 48 hours and resolves; new swelling later may signal an issue.
- Skin changes around injection sites — blanching, mottled discoloration, or a duskiness that doesn't resolve with massage and warmth.
- Fever or chills — never normal post-injection or post-laser; call same day.
- Vision changes — extremely rare with filler, but a true emergency. Call immediately.
- Anything that just feels wrong — your instinct is data; we'd rather hear from you.
