SKIN tightening.

Lumenis NuEra Tight multi-frequency radiofrequency for face, neck, abdomen, flanks, thighs, and arms. Modest, durable improvement — not a surgical lift.

A skin-tightening treatment at Reviv Med Spa, Millbrae
What is RF tightening

Heat that triggers collagen response.

Radiofrequency (RF) skin tightening uses electromagnetic energy to heat deeper tissue layers to a controlled temperature — typically 42 to 45°C. At that temperature, existing collagen fibers contract immediately (modest visible tightening), and the heat triggers fibroblast activity that produces new collagen over the following weeks to months (the durable result).

Different RF devices use different frequencies. The Lumenis NuEra Tight platform is multi-frequency — the operator can select shallower frequencies for the face and deeper frequencies for body work. The handpiece is moved continuously across the treatment area while energy is delivered, allowing real-time control of heat distribution.

RF is non-invasive: no needles, no incisions, no anesthesia, no downtime. The trade-off is that the result is gradual and modest. Patients with early-to-moderate skin laxity see a meaningful improvement; patients with significant skin excess will not match a surgical lift with RF and we say so honestly.

How it works at Reviv

Multi-frequency RF, real-time titration.

Skin tightening at Reviv Med Spa in Millbrae is performed by our Aesthetic Nurse Megan Sosnick, RN, with medical oversight by our Medical Director Dr. Gayle Misle, MD. Both have extensive training in RF technique and screening.

NuEra Tight by Lumenis
Multi-frequency RF; selectable frequencies for face (shallower) and body (deeper); continuous-motion handpiece with infrared temperature monitoring.

Your visit: consultation review including baseline laxity assessment and contraindication screening (cancer history, implants, pacemaker, pregnancy). Coupling gel applied. Handpiece moved across the treatment area in overlapping passes; the operator titrates frequency and intensity in real time using infrared surface-temperature monitoring. Time per area is 30 to 60 minutes — jowls and neck on the shorter end, abdomen and thighs longer. Most patients respond best to a series of 4 to 6 sessions spaced 1 to 2 weeks apart, with maintenance every 12 to 18 months.

RF pairs well with our renewal rituals (lymphatic drainage between sessions can amplify the soft-tissue response) and with PRP or microneedling for face work.

Areas commonly treated

Face and body, frequency-matched.

In your consultation we'll identify which areas would benefit most. NuEra Tight covers face and body; the multi-frequency design lets us match the depth to the tissue.

Abdomen

Post-pregnancy, post-weight-loss, and age-related laxity.

Flanks

The "muffin top" area along the lower back and side.

Thighs

Inner and outer; some cellulite improvement alongside the tightening effect.

Arms

Post-weight-loss laxity along the upper-arm "bat-wing" area.

Jowls + lower face

Lower-face laxity along the jaw and submental area.

Neck

Crepiness and laxity, often paired with face work.

What it addresses

What changes, and how much.

Early-to-moderate skin laxity

The window where RF makes a meaningful difference — modest, durable improvement.

Post-weight-loss laxity (moderate)

Skin that has lost some elasticity after meaningful weight loss; not surgical-territory excess skin.

Cellulite (modest)

NuEra Tight has cellulite-relevant settings and shows modest improvement alongside tightening — it does not eliminate cellulite.

Pairing with fat reduction

Patients pair RF with Kybella when residual lax skin needs support after fat-cell reduction.

Before you book

What to know, in four lines.

  1. 01

RF tightening is modest and gradual. Typical improvement is in the 10 to 20 percent range. We are honest about this — significant excess skin needs surgery, and we say so.

  2. 02

No needles, no incisions, no anesthesia, no downtime. Treated skin is mildly pink and warm for an hour or two; you return to work, exercise, or social plans the same day.

  3. 03

The durable result comes from the series and the new collagen that lays down over months — single sessions show some immediate tightening, but the meaningful change is at month 3 to 4.

  4. 04

Reviv membership members receive 28% off NuEra Tight RF — our deepest membership discount, reflecting how often patients use this treatment in series.

What to expect

From day zero, to month six.

Day 0

Treatment day. 30 to 60 minutes per area. Treated skin feels mildly warm; you can drive yourself home or back to work.

Days 1–3

Mild redness or pinkness only — fully resolved within a day or two. No restrictions on activities, exercise, or social plans.

Weeks 2–4

Early tightening becomes visible. Modest immediate change as existing collagen contracts and the body starts new collagen production.

Months 3–6

Peak collagen response. The durable result of a series is best evaluated at month 3 to 4 against your pre-treatment baseline photographs.

Pricing

What it actually costs.

RF skin tightening at Reviv is priced per session and varies by treatment area size. Larger body areas (abdomen, thighs) cost more per session than smaller targeted areas (jowls, neck). Series packages reduce the per-session cost meaningfully. Reviv membership members receive 28% off NuEra Tight RF — our deepest membership discount, reflecting how often patients use this treatment in series.

Honest fit

Who it's for — and who it isn't.

A good fit if
  • Patients with early-to-moderate skin laxity on face or body
  • Post-weight-loss skin in the moderate range — not excess-skin surgical territory
  • Patients seeking gradual, non-invasive improvement they can fit around work and life
  • Patients pairing RF with fat reduction (Kybella) or face protocols (PRP, microneedling)
Not for you if
  • Patients with significant excess skin where a surgical lift would produce a clearly better result
  • Active cancer, implanted electronic devices (pacemakers, defibrillators), or metal implants in the treatment area
  • Pregnant patients and those with active skin infection at the treatment area
  • Certain autoimmune conditions affecting healing

I've tried four other med spas in the Bay Area. Reviv is the only one where I feel genuinely listened to. Worth the drive from the city.

Conservative, honest, and skilled. They told me I didn't need half of what I was considering — and the things they did do were perfect.

Common questions

Frequently asked.

How does NuEra Tight differ from other RF devices?

NuEra Tight uses multi-frequency RF — selectable frequencies that target different tissue depths. Lower frequencies penetrate deeper for body work; higher frequencies stay more superficial for face. The handpiece is moved continuously rather than pulsed, which lets the operator titrate the heating in real time. Lumenis is one of the established RF platform manufacturers.

How many sessions do I need?

Most areas respond best to a series of 4 to 6 sessions spaced 1 to 2 weeks apart. Maintenance every 12 to 18 months sustains the result. Single sessions show some immediate tightening but the durable result comes from the series and the new collagen that lays down over months.

How much does skin tightening cost?

Pricing is per session and varies by area treated (smaller areas like jowls cost less per session than large body areas like the abdomen). Series packages reduce per-session cost. Reviv membership members receive 28% off NuEra Tight RF — the deepest membership discount in our menu.

Does it hurt?

Most patients describe it as a deep warmth — 3 to 4 out of 10 — that builds during the session. The handpiece moves continuously, and the operator titrates intensity to keep you comfortable. If anything is too hot, we adjust. Most patients find it relaxing.

Is there downtime?

None. Treated skin is mildly pink and warm for an hour or two, fully resolved by the end of the day. You can return to work, exercise, or social plans immediately.

How does this compare to a surgical lift?

NuEra Tight is non-invasive and delivers modest tightening — typically 10 to 20 percent improvement in laxity, depending on baseline. A surgical lift (facelift, abdominoplasty) addresses excess skin that is beyond what RF can affect. We are honest about this: if you have significant skin excess, RF will not match a surgical result. RF works well for early-to-moderate laxity, post-weight-loss skin in the moderate range, and patients seeking gradual, non-invasive improvement.

What areas does it treat?

NuEra Tight treats face (jowls, lower face, neck), abdomen, flanks, thighs (skin laxity and cellulite), arms (post-weight-loss bat-wing area), and other body regions where laxity has become bothersome. We assess at consultation and recommend areas where RF will produce a meaningful change.

Does it work for cellulite?

NuEra Tight has cellulite-relevant settings and shows modest cellulite improvement in many patients alongside the skin tightening effect. It does not eliminate cellulite. We frame expectations honestly — cellulite is a complex anatomical feature; no current technology resolves it completely.

When will I see results?

Initial tightening visible within 1 to 2 weeks. Continued improvement over 3 to 4 months as new collagen lays down. Best photographic comparison is at month 3 to 4 against pre-treatment baseline.

Who should not get RF skin tightening?

Patients with active cancer, implanted electronic devices (pacemakers, defibrillators), metal implants in the treatment area, pregnancy, active skin infection at the treatment area, and certain autoimmune conditions affecting healing. We screen carefully at consultation.
