LIP fillers.
Subtle, natural-looking lip enhancement — restored volume, refined shape, soft texture. Lip-specific HA fillers placed conservatively, building over multiple appointments rather than over-volumizing in one.
HA placed in and around the lip.
Lip fillers are hyaluronic-acid (HA) gels placed in and around the lips to restore lost volume, define shape, smooth perioral lines, or correct asymmetry. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule your body already produces; it holds water and creates soft, supple volume.
Lip filler isn't about making lips bigger — it's about respecting your natural lip shape and adding what time has taken away. The lips lose volume gradually starting in our 30s. The vermilion border (the line where the colored part of the lip meets the skin) softens, the cupid's bow flattens, and the corners may turn slightly downward. Modern lip filler can address each of these specifically.
Treatments take 30 to 45 minutes. Results appear immediately, settle over two weeks, and typically last 9 to 12 months.
Trained injection, conservative dosing.
At Reviv Med Spa in Millbrae, lip fillers are administered by our Medical Director Dr. Gayle Misle, MD, and our Aesthetic Nurse Megan Sosnick, RN — both with extensive training in injectable filler technique and the unique anatomy of the lips. Lips are the most expressive feature on the face — so they're also the area where the difference between a beautiful result and an obvious one is most visible. We treat conservatively, building shape over multiple appointments rather than over-volumizing in a single session.
We carry the lip-specific HA filler products designed for the unique anatomy and movement of the lips:
- Juvederm Volbella XC by Allergan Aesthetics
- Soft, low-volume HA tuned for lip refinement and perioral lines. Often a first-time choice for subtle results.
- Restylane Kysse by Galderma
- Designed specifically for lip color and texture; flexible movement and natural-feeling results.
- RHA 2 / RHA 3 by Revance
- Designed for facial movement; appropriate for the lip body when softness with definition is the goal.
Topical numbing is applied for 15 to 20 minutes before treatment. The fillers also contain lidocaine, which numbs further as it's placed. The actual injections take 15 to 30 minutes. Most patients describe the sensation as a 3 to 4 out of 10 — lips are sensitive, but well-managed with proper numbing.
You will see immediate volume from HA fillers, with swelling that resolves over the first 7–14 days. We schedule a complimentary 2-week touch-up assessment so we can confirm placement and add to specific areas if needed.
Six lip goals.
In your consultation we'll identify which goals fit your face. Most first-treatments place one syringe focused on the area you most want to address.
Natural plump
Subtle volume that respects your existing lip shape and proportion.
Defined border
Vermilion border refinement and cupid's bow definition.
Balanced proportion
Upper-to-lower ratio adjusted to suit your face.
Vertical lip lines
Perioral "smoker's lines" softened with fine HA.
Asymmetry
Subtle correction for uneven volume or shape.
Age-related thinning
Restored fullness for lips that have lost volume over time.
Volume that's gone, shape that's changed.
Volume restoration
Lips that have thinned with age — adding back what has gone, not making them bigger.
Shape and definition
Cupid's bow refinement, vermilion border, lip-corner support.
Perioral lines
Vertical lines around the mouth softened with fine HA fillers like Silk.
Asymmetry correction
Subtle balance work for naturally uneven lip shape or volume.
Lip flip pairing
A small Botox dose in the upper-lip muscle rolls the lip outward — paired with filler or used alone.

Lip filler is precision work — product, depth, and placement matter more than syringe count. We treat conservatively and add at the touch-up.
- 02
Lips are highly mobile, so HA filler in the lips metabolizes faster than in less-mobile areas. Plan on maintenance every 6–12 months.
- 03
HA lip fillers are reversible with hyaluronidase if needed — but the goal is precision from the start, not corrections later.

Pricing is per syringe and quoted in writing at consultation. No surprise charges, no day-of upsells.
From day zero, to settled lips.
Treatment day. 30–45 min appointment with topical numbing beforehand. You leave with visible volume — but your lips will look fuller than the final shape from immediate swelling.
Peak swelling. Ice in 10-min intervals helps. Bruising at injection points is common and resolves over 5–7 days. Avoid heavy exercise, alcohol, and saunas for 24 hours.
Swelling resolves and lips settle to their final shape. Your 2-week mark is when we assess — complimentary touch-up if anything reads asymmetric or under-volumized.
Lip filler metabolizes faster than other areas because the lips are highly mobile. Most patients refresh every 6 to 12 months depending on product and individual metabolism.
What it actually costs.
Lip-filler pricing at Reviv is per syringe. Most first-treatments use one syringe; some patients prefer to build over two or three sessions. Final cost depends on the product chosen and amount used — and we quote that in writing at consultation, before any treatment begins.
Reviv membership members receive 10% off filler treatments.

Subtle by default.
Lip fillers at Reviv default to natural-looking softening — most first-time patients use one syringe or less. We start conservative, you come back at two weeks if you want more. The goal is lips that still look like your lips.
What people say about Reviv.
The whole team takes their time. No upselling, no pressure — just a thoughtful plan and beautiful results. The space itself feels like a sanctuary.
I've tried four other med spas in the Bay Area. Reviv is the only one where I feel genuinely listened to. Worth the drive from the city.
Conservative, honest, and skilled. They told me I didn't need half of what I was considering — and the things they did do were exactly right.

How long do lip fillers last at Reviv?
HA lip fillers typically last 9 to 12 months. The lips are highly mobile, so lip filler tends to metabolize faster than filler in less-mobile areas. Most patients schedule maintenance every 9–12 months.
Will my lips look fake or too big?
Not when it is done well. The "duck lip" or overfilled look comes from over-volumizing or treating only the upper lip without balance. At Reviv we treat conservatively — we would rather under-fill at the first appointment and add at your 2-week touch-up than over-correct on day one. Lip filler is reversible (with hyaluronidase), but the better practice is precision from the start.
How much do lip fillers cost?
Pricing is per syringe. Most first-treatments use one syringe of a lip-specific product. Final cost depends on the product and amount — book a consultation for an exact quote. Reviv membership members receive 10% off.
Do lip fillers hurt?
Most patients describe it as a 3–4 out of 10. Lips are sensitive, but topical numbing is applied for 15–20 minutes beforehand and the fillers contain lidocaine which numbs further as they are placed. Most patients are surprised by how comfortable the procedure is.
Is there downtime?
Significant swelling is normal for the first 2–4 days, with bruising possible. Most patients do not have major plans the first 48–72 hours. Avoid kissing, exercise, hot drinks, and alcohol for 24 hours. Most patients are presentable for work after day 4–5.
What is the difference between lip filler and a lip flip?
Lip filler adds volume to the lip itself with HA gel. A lip flip uses a small dose of Botox in the upper lip muscle to subtly roll the lip outward — the lip looks slightly fuller without adding any volume. They achieve different effects and can be paired. We offer both at Reviv (lip flip is performed via Botox — see our /botox/ page).
Can lip filler be reversed?
Yes. HA lip fillers can be dissolved with hyaluronidase (an enzyme) — usually a single appointment with results visible within 24–48 hours. This is rarely needed when filler is placed conservatively and built gradually, but it is a real safety net.
How soon will I see my final result?
Day 1–2 your lips will look fuller than the final result due to swelling. By day 7 most swelling is resolved. By day 14 you see your true result. We schedule complimentary 2-week follow-ups so we can confirm placement and refine if needed.
Are there side effects?
The most common side effects are swelling (always) and bruising (sometimes). Both resolve in 1–2 weeks. Less common side effects include lumps (usually massage-correctable) or vascular complications (rare with experienced injectors who aspirate before placement). Cold sores can be triggered in patients with a history.
Who should not get lip fillers?
Patients with active cold sores or a history of frequent cold sores (without antiviral prophylaxis), pregnant or breastfeeding patients, those with bleeding disorders, or those with active skin infections at the lip area. We screen at consultation. If you have questions about whether lip filler is right for you, ask us.
