Patient questions · pressure and upselling

An honest opinion,
without the package pitch.

"Pushy", "kept trying to sell me", "talked me into a package": the upsell is one of the most common threads in low-rated med spa reviews across the Bay Area. Nobody should have to decide on a series while sitting in the treatment chair.

Reception at Reviv Med Spa in Millbrae, where consultations are no pressure and no obligation
Why it is a fair worry

A recommendation
is not a quota.

Packages are not the problem; pressure is. When a consultation is designed to end with a purchase, the recommendation bends toward whatever is being promoted that month. You feel it in the room: the countdown, the "today only", the reluctance to let you leave and think.

The honest version is simpler. A provider tells you what they would do, why, and what it costs, then lets you decide somewhere other than the chair.

What to look for anywhere

Signs of a consultation
built to inform, not to close.

Any practice, any city.

  • No obligation stated up front, and meant.
  • A conservative first step rather than the biggest package, especially for energy treatments.
  • A plan you can take home in writing and compare.
  • No follow-up sales calls if you decide to wait.
How Reviv does it

No pressure, no obligation,
and a plan you take home.

Our consultations are no pressure, no obligation. For skin treatments like BroadBand Light for sun damage and redness on the body, we screen carefully and start conservative, and we quote in writing at consultation. Series and membership pricing exist because they suit some patients, not because a visit has to end in one.

Every plan and price is written down before treatment begins, so you can take it home, compare it, and book only what you actually want. If you choose to wait or go elsewhere, we wish you well: no pressure, no follow-up sales calls. Comparing treatments side by side is often the most useful thing to do between the consultation and the decision.

It is how patients from Burlingame and Hillsborough describe their first visit to our Millbrae studio, and it is the standard we hold every provider on the team to, under Dr. Gayle Misle, MD, our Founder and Medical Director.

Questions

Asked at the front desk,
answered here.

Will I be asked to buy a package at my consultation?

No. You leave with a written plan and price and decide on your own time. Series and membership options are explained if they fit, never pushed.

What does "start conservative" mean?

For energy-based skin treatments we screen carefully and begin with conservative settings and a realistic first plan rather than the largest package.

Can I get a second opinion?

Of course. Take the written plan with you. If you choose to wait or go elsewhere, there are no follow-up sales calls.
